Class Gift

Our class gift to the school will be split between a Bomber Life Endowment and support of the capital campaign to replace the 1960’s era buildings. See the class gift blog for details.

  • Class Gift – 1976 Bicentennial Class

Earlier this month, the reunion committee met with Tim Reilly ’76, Kathryn Dierckes, and Mike Mullally, at St. X, to agree that our Class Gift would support endowment of the newly established “Bomber Life Fund”.    The annual revenue of the endowed fund will be available to Tim Reilly, and successive St. X presidents, to use for the unforeseen financial needs of St. X students and their families, that arise from time to time due to death or disability (e.g., of a parent), divorce, illness, job loss, casualty events, etc.   Programs exist to help low income students while those from the highest income families are typically able to handle unexpected situations themselves. The middle group of students may not have the resources when unexpected situations arise and may need support which has not been budgeted. Rather than rely on the President personally soliciting generous alumni who graciously agree to cover unexpected, unbudgeted expenses for students, the Bomber Life Fund will provide an ongoing source of funds.

The Bomber Life Fund also is available for the President to tap for unbudgeted expenditures (e.g., for a faculty or staff to attend an unplanned conference or career development opportunity).

A larger portion of our Class Gift will be designated to support the St. Xavier 200 Campaign (i.e., to celebrate the school’s 200th anniversary in 2031), which will invest substantial and very much needed capital improvements and replacements of well-worn original 1960’s construction, which is now beyond its useful life.    So much of the original mechanical construction (e.g., electrical conduit and circuitry, plumbing, HVAC, windows, etc.) of 600 North Bend Road is the same today as it was at opening in 1960.   It simply is time to replace it.    As part of the 200th anniversary project, this portion of our Class Gift is planned to fund a new main entrance monument (with digital signage) on North Bend Road, as well as similar markers at the other entry points from North Bend Road and View Place.
